"I used to look at [my dog] Smokey and think, "If you were a little smarter you could tell me what you were thinking," and he'd look at me like he was saying, "If you were a little smarter, I wouldn't have to.""

Do I need a pet care service?

Ultimately , it is a personal decision but many people find the comforts of in-home care rewarding for both them and their pets. Some dogs and cats are completely content with going to a kennel or boarding facility but for those more anxious, timid, or elderly pets, the trip alone can be upsetting and cumbersome. You no longer have to depend on a friend or relative; you can trust your pets will be in the hands of caring professionals. Because security is almost always an issue while on vacation or leaving home for any period of time, a pet sitter can provide the comforts of a lived-in appearance so your pet and belongings are safe until you return.

How do my pets benefit?

Your pet has the convenience of home and the satisfaction of their daily routine. No strange smells, sights, or sounds which can add stress to your pet which in turn adds stress to you. Your pet receives personalized attention with a plan developed by you to maximize their time during your absence. By continuing their regular diet and allowing them to stay in their home environment, we also reduce the chance of illnesses.

How long is each pet care visit?

An average pet-sitting visit takes about 30 minutes but depending on the needs of your pet and household it can take longer. Additional charges may apply. For training sessions, exercise, or pet transportation, we charge by 30 minute and 1 hour increments.

For what types of animals will you provide care?

We have experience with dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, fish, chickens, pigs, pocket pets, and horses. Just tell us your normal routine and we'll guarantee to follow it step-by-step.

Is it expensive?

If you are a multiple pet household, a pet sitter is almost always less expensive than any boarding facility. However, even with only a single animal, the benefits and convenience are usually worth the additional expense.

How do I know which pet care provider is best for me?

It is always best to do some investigative research before hiring anyone to care for your pet whether it is a kennel or a pet sitter. Always make sure you feel comfortable with who will be providing care and that they are knowledgeable about animals and they address you professionally and honestly.

Here are a few questions to ask before choosing the best pet sitter for you and your pets:

1. Are they bonded and insured?
2. Can they provide references?
3. Do they have adequate experience caring for pets?
4. Are they genuinely concerned about the safety and well being of animals?
5. Do they provide written literature describing services and rates?
6. Will they visit a client's home before the first assignment to obtain appropriate information about dealing with their pets?
7. Do they appear confident and competent while dealing with animals?
8. Are they willing to learn about the animals that will be in their care?
9. Do they have regular office hours and return client calls promptly?
10.Do they handle complaints courteously?
11.Do they provide an evaluation form?
12.Do they take appropriate actions to ensure the client's home is protected during their absence?
13.Do they follow federal, state, and local laws involving business operations and animal care?
14.Do they have a backup plan for inclement weather, personal illness, or emergency?
15.Will they call to verify the client has returned or have the client check in upon arrival?
16.Do they denounce competitors?

Take everything into account when making your final decision and always trust your instincts. Don't be afraid to say no because this is your pet and your home and you must feel you can trust this person with both of them.
